Because of its Mediterranean climate, Portugal is a proud key producer and exporter of olive oil. The region of Alentejo itself is also charming and rich in history stretching back millennia.
After you have been picked up from your hotel in Lisbon, you will cross the Tagus River to Alentejo where you start with a boat ride on the Alqueva Dam. This is one of the largest dams and artificial lakes in Western Europe.
You will then have lunch at a traditional Portuguese restuarant where you will taste local specialities where one of the main ingredients is of course olive oil. Then you will visit an olive press, an olive grove and a modern wine-press.
The trip would not of course be complete without tasting a selection of local cheeses, wines and olive oils all unique to the Alentejo region. Then the group will head back to Lisbon where the tour ends.
